Pub Zine: The Woodman

The next pub we decided we would go to on a pub walk was The Woodman. We decided to go here as it is opposite our university and we drink in here quite a lot so it would be nice to look at the people in there from a different perspective. We went in there on a Tuesday night after we had finished university so we wasn't expecting it to be too busy as it was around 4 pm on a Tuesday. When we went in there was a few group of older men around 40 who I think had just finished work, but we noticed there was a uni student who we recognised so we thought we would talk to him.

He told us that he drinks in The Woodman because its right across from his uni so he can go in there straight after and doesn't have to worry about travelling to it. We asked him if it the fact that its an independent pub has any influence on why he drinks there and he said that it does make him happier that its an independent pub but if it was a chain he would still drink there because of its location. Another reason why he likes the pub is due to the craft beers and ales and they do have a good range on draught, and they often change them so its nice that they don't just do the standard beers.
